Overlooking the Côtes du Rhône vineyards, the Château de Suze-la-Rousse bears witness to 1,000 years of history.
From a simple keep with a defensive tower, the château was transformed into a powerful fortress in the late Middle Ages. The Renaissance marked the apogee of the château: a courtyard of honor and new apartments were created, while a park was laid out with a palm hall.
On September 21, 1564, the future King Charles IX, accompanied by his mother Catherine de Médicis and the court, was received here by the Seigneur de Suze, François de La Baume.
A century later, the château became a holiday home. Large windows opened onto the landscape and new decorations adorned the rooms.
Today, the château is a tourist attraction open all year round, offering activities and fun for all ages.
